Duke of Ed Awards

Congratulations to the Rochester and Rutherford Hall residents who recently received their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards at a special ceremony in Christchurch. The Awards ceremony was hosted in the St Andrew’s Centennial College and was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the success of recipients from around Aotearoa.

One of our Residents Magdalene Herlihy (Sacred Heart Girls College, New Plymouth) delivered an inspiring speech, reflecting on her journey of setting goals and the support she received from mentors, teachers, and friends. She beautifully captured the essence of the experience: “Many of you may have begun the award as teens and now are here as young, emerging adults, just like me. I’m certain we can all agree the Duke of Ed carries a sense of nostalgia that we already long to relive.”

We are immensely proud of Magdalene and our other Gold Award recipients at the Hall. Their hard work, dedication to personal growth, and contribution to their communities are a true inspiration to us all. To all our Award recipients—your perseverance and service to community is truly something to celebrate!
