Semester One

Academic Awards

Entrance Awards

These are financial awards decided at the discretion of the principal and given to residents as an acknowledgement of outstanding achievements in their final year of high school. These are presented at the second formal dinner of the year.

Other Awards

Overall Best Debater

The winner of this award will receive the Rochester and Rutherford overall best debater cup. The recipients name will be engraved on the cup which will remain on display at the Hall. The debating competition will be held in semester 1.

Rutherford Trust Board Art and Photography Award

The Art and Photography Competition begins in Semester 1 and will be judged and awarded by the Rutherford Trust Board at the beginning of Semester 2. The winners will receive a financial award.

Semester Two

Academic Awards

Rochester and Rutherford Academic Distinction, and Head of Faculty Awards

The Academic Distinction Award is given to residents who have achieved an overall GPA 9 in Semester 1.

The Head of Faculty Award is given to the top Rochester and Rutherford Hall Student in each Faculty, that has also achieved a GPA 8.5 or above in Semester 1.

These awards are presented at the first formal dinner of Semester 2.

Other Awards

Rochester Trust Board Performing Arts Award

The Performing Arts Evening is held in Semester 2, and the performances will be judged by members of the Rochester Trust Board. The winners will receive a financial award.

Rochester and Rutherford Trust Boards Community Awards - Cultural | Community | Sport | Social

These awards will be given to residents who have served the Hall on the Student Executive and in other leadership roles related to these areas. The recipients of these awards will receive a voucher in recognition of their contribution.

Sportswoman of the Year

The winner of this award will receive the Rochester and Rutherford Sportswoman of the year cup. The recipients name will be engraved on the cup which will remain on display at the Hall. This will be awarded at the discretion of the Principal at the end of semester 2.

Sportsman of the Year

The winner of this award will receive the Rochester and Rutherford Sportsman of the year cup. The recipients name will be engraved on the cup which will remain on display at the Hall. This will be awarded at the discretion of the Principal at the end of semester 2.

Contribution to Community

The winner of this award will receive the Contribution to Community Trophy. The recipients name will be engraved on the Trophy which will remain on display at the Hall. The award recipient will be decided by a combination of student vote and hall management discretion and will be presented at the end of semester 2.

Environment and Sustainability

The winner of this award will receive the Environment and Sustainability Trophy. The recipients name will be engraved on the Trophy which will remain on display at the Hall. The award recipient will be decided by a combination of student vote and hall management discretion and will be presented at the end of semester 2.
